This energic city at the port call itself Manhattan on the Maas. Europe’s first skyscraper saw the light of day here in 1898 – 45 meters high. This got the company of many tall constructions after the Second World War and today’s skyline is an impressive sight. In short, the war is the explanation for how the center of Rotterdam has developed into a wonderful mix of the ultra-modern and new post-war construction. And like New York City, Rotterdam is also a melting pot of different cultures, colorful with festivals, markets, nightlife and restaurants. This suits the city that has the country’s youngest population, the city for those with their own ideas and who want to create something.

3 hour guided bike tour – City of the future.
Rotterdam is a wonderful city to cycle in, with no heavy hills. We will cycle at a very comfortable pace while looking around. This means that this bike tour is suitable for everyone.
You won’t find any list of Europe’s most progressive cities that doesn’t include Rotterdam. Are you curious to discover the latest innovative projects yourself? Within the Netherlands, Rotterdam has a special place, as it is the only large city where the entire center was bombed and destroyed during the blitz of the 1940s. As a result, it became a place that had to be rebuilt and reinvented and over the years has acquired a modern, raw and urban feel. Due to the rapid growth of the port areas, the city developed continuously since the 1870s. Rotterdam quickly learned to deal with the latest inventions and economy during each decade. Architectural guides join us on a bike tour around Rotterdam to learn more about Rotterdam’s exciting architectural history and future. We end the cycle tour for group 1 with lunch in Markthal.
